Education Content, Michigan Learning Channel Intern

We are actively pursuing a dynamic and diverse team member to join us in the role of Education Content, Michigan Learning Channel Intern in Wixom, MI.
What You’ll Do:
The Education Content intern will work closely with The Planning Period team to support content development for our educator community by identifying engaging topics, researching teaching methods and professional development themes, and writing compelling scripts for the show. The intern may also assist in planning additional content for the full year. The Planning Period team will collaborate with the successful candidate to develop an internship program that aligns with both the needs of the show and the intern’s skills and career aspirations.
Essential Functions May Include:
- Conduct research on education topics, teaching methods, and professional development (PD) strategies to inform show content.
- Identify and curate valuable resources and materials for educators that align with The Planning Period’s mission.
- Write engaging and informative scripts for episodes, ensuring clarity, accuracy, and alignment with best practices in education.
- Assist in brainstorming and planning content for future episodes and long-term content strategy.
- Stay informed about trends and discussions in education to ensure relevance and value in the show’s messaging.
- Collaborate with the team to develop additional content, such as blog posts, social media copy, or supplementary materials.
- Other duties as assigned.
Skills:
- Strong writing and storytelling abilities, with experience in scriptwriting, journalism, or content creation.
- Research skills, including the ability to find, evaluate, and synthesize information from credible sources.
- Familiarity with educational topics, teaching strategies, and professional development frameworks.
- Basic proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) or similar tools.
- Ability to work independently while collaborating with a creative team.
Qualifications:
- Must be currently enrolled in a 4-year university or have recently (within the past 6 months) graduated.
- Pursuing a degree in education, journalism, communications, media, or a related field.
- Experience in education (teaching, tutoring, curriculum development, or related fields) preferred.
- Passion for education and educational media.
- Able to work 12-20 hours per week for a maximum of one semester (or 16 weeks).

Intern applicants must be currently enrolled at a college or university, or have recently (within past 6 months) graduated with a relevant degree. The internship program is unpaid and focused on education and training.
