Manager, Education Communications & Digital Strategy

We are actively seeking dynamic and diverse team member to join us in the role of Manager, Education Communications & Digital Strategy in Wixom, MI, in a hybrid work structure.
The Manager, Education Communications & Digital Strategy is a creative and strategic leader responsible for elevating Detroit PBS Education’s digital and communications presence across early learning and the statewide Michigan Learning Channel (MLC). This hands-on role blends strategy and production—building campaigns, managing platforms, creating content, and using data to strengthen audience engagement and educational impact.
Essential Functions
Digital Strategy & Leadership
- Develop and implement a unified digital engagement strategy supporting both local early learning and statewide education initiatives.
- Oversee day-to-day management of websites, social media, and email platforms to ensure cohesive, high-quality content delivery.
- Translate strategy into action through creative planning, storytelling, and measurable audience growth.
Website & Platform Management
- Manage and update site content, UX, and SEO performance using WordPress and related CMS tools.
- Upload and curate educational video content in PBS Media Manager, Curate, and YouTube.
- Implement digital tools for newsletters, pop-ups, and engagement tracking.
Social Media & Engagement
- Lead Detroit PBS Education and MLC social media channels, including copywriting, scheduling, and community engagement.
- Produce and publish videos, graphics, and live or virtual event content that engage educators, families, and partners.
- Manage organic and paid campaigns to increase statewide reach and engagement.
Email & Newsletters
- Write, design, and distribute newsletters and email campaigns for educators, families, and partners.
- Manage audience lists, segmentation, and A/B testing in collaboration with Detroit PBS Digital.
- Align all communications with Education’s mission and key messaging priorities.
Analytics & Reporting
- Track performance across platforms using Google Analytics, PBS Domo, and other tools.
- Produce concise reports summarizing engagement trends and digital ROI.
- Use analytics to guide future content, campaigns, and audience development.
Collaboration & Partnerships
- Work closely with Detroit PBS departments and PBS station partners statewide to align education messaging and content.
- Support community and educator engagement events through digital amplification and communications materials.
- Contribute visuals, data, and stories to funder and grant reporting.
Creative & Technical Execution
- Design and produce digital assets using Canva or Adobe Creative Suite.
- Edit short-form videos, manage publishing workflows, and ensure accessibility compliance.
- Train and support staff and partners in Airtable, CMS, analytics dashboards, and digital tools.
Physical Assets
- Collaborate with internal teams to produce flyers, activity books, emails, design graphics, toolkits, impact reports, and other materials supporting engagement content.

Skills & Competencies
- Proven ability to lead and execute education-focused digital communications.
- Proficiency in WordPress, HTML/CSS, and email marketing tools.
- Excellent writing and editing skills for educator, family, and community audiences.
- Experience with Canva or Adobe Creative Suite for design and video production.
- Strong organizational and project management skills; comfortable managing multiple priorities.
- Familiarity with PBS Digital tools (Curate, Media Manager, Domo).
- Commitment to education, equity, and lifelong learning.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Education, Communications, Digital Media, Marketing, or related field.
- Minimum five years of experience in digital content management, marketing, or audience engagement.
- Demonstrated success leading digital campaigns and managing creative production.
Physical Demands
Individuals must be able to type and sit behind a desk for extended periods of time.
