Senior Staff

Brian brings over 15 years of broadcasting experience to his role as Vice President of Engineering & Technical Operations at Detroit PBS. Since joining the organization in 2010, Brian has progressed from a part time Broadcast Engineer—where he worked on countless national PBS and client productions—to his current leadership position, gaining deep expertise in every facet of broadcast operations along the way. Combined with his passion for technical innovation and attention to detail, Brian’s hands-on experience has made him instrumental in driving the station’s technical evolution and operational excellence.

As VP, Brian oversees Engineering, IT, Programming, and Facilities—navigating the organization through a complex transition from its previous headquarters at The Riley Broadcast Center, into temporary operations, all while serving as the COO’s second-in-command on the design and construction of Detroit PBS’s new headquarters at 234 Piquette. This multifaceted role has demanded flexibility and adaptability, but Brian’s leadership philosophy centers on trust and empowerment. He believes in giving his teams the autonomy to achieve desired results their own way, focusing on clear objectives rather than prescribing all-encompassing methodologies. By creating an environment where people feel comfortable experimenting, learning from mistakes, and sharing ideas freely, he fosters meaningful connections with his team and strives for his team to succeed. Brian is certified in Dante Level 1-3 and SMPTE 2110 and serves in advisory roles for SensCy Cybersecurity and the Detroit School of Arts Film & Video Board. He holds a Bachelor of Science in Communications from Colorado State University.

When he’s not working on the next big project at Detroit PBS, Brian enjoys spending time with his wife and two sons, whether that’s camping in the great outdoors or traveling to new destinations.
