Shannon Cason’s brutally honest storytelling

Jul 6, 2020

Shannon Cason’s podcast Homemade Stories is probably more well known nationally than locally. He’s a native Detroiter but received traction in Chicago several years ago, connecting with WBEZ (home of This American Life) and another native Michigander Glynn Washington, who hosts the nationally renowned Snap Judgment program on public radio (also a big podcast).

He’s a master of what he calls brutally honest storytelling – many of his stories provide insights about growing up, living in Detroit – he reveals parts of himself most others dare not. But he encourages people to step out of their comfort zones, all in the quest of better stories.
