One Detroit: The Temple of Lung and Air

One Detroit had the opportunity to follow hip-hop spoken word and slam poet Kane Smego this week, as he prepared for the opening of a new one man show at the Detroit Public Theatre called “The Temple of Lung and Air.”

The show is about his experiences growing up as a white kid in the south, with a black stepfather and a love affair with rap and hip hop.

Ultimately “The Temple of Lung and Air” provides Kane with a vehicle to express how his upbringing has shaped how he questions his connection with race and culture.
