American Black Journal – Black Lives Matter: The Movement and the Message

We’re launching a 3-part series of shows produced in collaboration with the innovative, community-based news organization, BridgeDetroit, and focusing on the question: “Do Black Lives Matter in America?” BridgeDetroit’s Orlando Bailey joins Stephen for thought-provoking conversations on the urgent issues endangering the lives of African Americans. Stephen talks with the organizers of the Detroit Chapter of Black Lives Matter about the current status of the movement, its platform and plans to address racial injustice. Orlando speaks with two Detroit activists about their stance on defunding the police and what it really means to value Black life in America.
