On the next American Black Journal, the national nonprofit Little Free Library partners with local nonprofit Brilliant Detroit to get diverse books into the hands of Detroit children and families through free, book-sharing boxes in the city’s neighborhoods.

Stephen Henderson talks with Brilliant Detroit CEO Cindy Eggleton about the “Read in Color” initiative that celebrates authors of color and books that provide perspectives on racial and social justice.

Plus, One Detroit senior producer Bill Kubota reports on how teenagers are getting on-the-job training in carpentry while helping to rebuild Detroit’s Tuxedo neighborhood on the west side.

And, in a special report for the New York/ Michigan Solutions Journalism Collaborative, producer AJ Walker takes us to a Detroit program that prepares and trains family caregivers for the many responsibilities of caring for an aging loved one.
