A discussion about the relationship between Black and Jewish communities in Detroit

Mar 29, 2026

We’ll have a portion of the panel discussion held at The Wright Museum earlier this month in conjunction with the recent Dr. Henry Louis Gates documentary “Black and Jewish America: An Interwoven History.”

Highlights from the PBS docuseries were shown at the event, and the conversation with local historians and faith leaders explored the relationship between Black and Jewish communities in Detroit. The discussion was moderated by The Skillman Foundation President & CEO Angelique Power who is Black and Jewish.
