Public conversation focuses on “Caring for Caregivers: The Art of Aging Well”

A public event titled “Caring for Caregivers: The Art of Aging Well” at St. Patrick Senior Center featured local agency leaders talking about the challenges and triumphs of caregiving. The panel was moderated by American Black Journal contributor Trudy Gallant-Stokes and features SaTrice Coleman-Betts of St. Patrick Senior Center, Ronald Taylor from Detroit Area Agency on Aging, and Kristie King of the Southeast Michigan Senior Regional Collaborative.
They speak about the caregiver resources available through their agencies, the importance of respite and recreational breaks for caregivers, and the power of caregivers advocating for themselves. Gallant-Stokes and the panelists also share their own personal caregiving stories.
