May 22, 2026

The Detroit Regional Chamber’s annual Mackinac Policy Conference takes place next week on Mackinac Island. The event brings together hundreds of business, government, civic and philanthropic leaders for conversations about Michigan’s future. It starts May 26.

Ahead of this year’s conference, One Detroit contributor Zoe Clark of Michigan Public spoke with Sandy Baruah, president and CEO of the Detroit Regional Chamber, and Bob Riney, president and CEO of Henry Ford Health and chair of this year’s conference. They preview key topics, priorities, and themes shaping this year’s agenda.

This year’s theme is “A Quest for Common Ground.”

Detroit PBS will livestream sessions during the conference from May 26-28. The station will also air a special featuring conference highlights and conversations on Thursday, May 28 at 9 PM.
