COVID313 Talk: A COVID Survivor’s Story
Brian Love had COVID-19 in March last year, a heart-breaking year for him and his family. Love shared his story in the latest COVID313 Community Coalition Virtual Town Hall for Families and Students.
He said he didn’t go to the hospital because it was early in the pandemic.
“I could breathe, but I didn’t realize I was struggling,” Love said.
He made it through but with many complications.
His mother, who lived just a few minutes away also caught the virus although she was not as severely affected.
The rest of Love’s family also stricken, all separated while bedridden in the same house.
His son became the caretaker although he suffered from the virus too.
“I lost a lot of friends last year,” Love said, “and I don’t want to go through another year like this one.”
”Get your vaccine and also care for your health,” he said tells others. “Men of color, we tend to not take health care as seriously as others. We need to.”
