School is out for summer, and it’s time to celebrate with the Hamburg Family Fun Fest and the School’s Out Stand-Up Comedy event. Plus, celebrate Father’s Day with a cupcake-making class and Juneteenth with a community picnic. There is also the Ann Arbor Comic Arts Festival, Frankenmuth Bavarian Festival and more. One Detroit contributor Dave Wagner of 90.9 WRCJ shares what’s coming up around metro Detroit this weekend and beyond.

Upcoming Events: 

  • Country music singer-songwriter Jamey Johnson performs at The Aretha Franklin Amphitheatre in Detroit on Friday, June 13.  
  • The Northville Art House hosts its outdoor art market June 13-15 featuring artwork from local and regional artists as well as food trucks.  
  • Rustic Leaf Brewing in Waterford Township hosts a Father’s Day Cupcake Class on Saturday, June 14. 
  • The Ann Arbor Comic Arts Festival comes to the Ann Arbor District Library Jun 14-15, featuring meet-and-greets with creators, panel discussions and other graphic novel vendors.  
  • The Hamburg Family Fun Fest takes place at Manly Bennet Park in Hamburg Township through June 15, featuring carnival rides, fireworks, a classic car show and food vendors. 
  • The Frankenmuth Bavarian Festival returns to downtown Frankenmuth through June 15. The festival includes polka, beer, bratwurst, duck races and more.  
  • Mark Ridley’s Comedy Castle hosts the School’s Out Stand Up Comedy For Teachers By Teachers event on Wednesday, June 18. 
  • The 4th annual We Gon Be Alright Juneteenth community picnic celebration takes place at Corrigan Park in Detroit on Thursday, June 19, featuring stand-up comedy, a kids book fair, a history talk show, food vendors and more.
