Summer festivals are in full swing this weekend with the Trenton Summer Festival, FrankenFest and the Livonia Spree. There are also opportunities to celebrate the Fourth of July early with Independence Fest and the Red, White & Blues Festival. Plus, check out upcoming performances from Devo at The Fillmore Detroit and a production of “The Wiz” at the Fisher Theatre. Upcoming Events:
- The Trenton Summer Festival takes place June 27-29. The festival brings vintage market vendors, crafters, food trucks and live music to downtown Trenton.
- The 49th annual Michigan Challenge Balloonfest returns to Howell High School June 27-29. The event includes balloon launches, carnival rides, fireworks, kids’ attractions and more.
- Independence Fest comes to Clintonwood Park in Clarkston on Saturday, June 28. The festival includes a classic car show, a kids’ zone, live music and fireworks.
- Devo brings its “50 Years of Devolution…Continued!” tour to The Fillmore Detroit on Saturday, June 28.
- FrankenFest takes place on Saturday, June 28 at Fort Gratiot in Port Huron. The festival features magical and mystical attractions, monstrous exhibits and artwork at Michigan’s oldest lighthouse.
- The Red, White & Blues Festival comes to John Street Field in Highland on Saturday, June 28. The annual Independence Day celebration features live music, kids’ activities, food trucks, craft vendors and more.
- Livonia Spree takes place through June 29 at Ford Field in Livonia. The summer festival features rides, live music, fireworks, local food and more.
- Broadway in Detroit presents performances of “The Wiz” at the Fisher Theatre in Detroit through June 29. The production is a reimagining of “The Wizard of Oz.”
