Detroit is celebrating LGBTQ+ Pride Month and Irish culture this weekend with the Irish Festival at Greenmead Historical Park and Motor City Pride in Hart Plaza. Art on the Grand takes place in downtown Farmington, the Westside Art Hop happens in Ann Arbor, and there’s a PeaceFest in Waterford. Plus, don’t miss performances from Mt. Joy at the Michigan Lottery Amphitheatre, a Detroit Symphony Orchestra concert at Chandler Park, and comedian Josh Johnson’s “The Flowers Tour” at The Fillmore. One Detroit contributors Haley Taylor and Dave Wagner of 90.9 WRCJ share what’s coming up around metro Detroit this weekend. 

Upcoming Events:  

  • Indie rock band Mt. Joy brings its “Hope We Have Fun Tour” to the Michigan Lottery Amphitheatre in Sterling Heights on June 6.  
  • The Motor City Irish Festival takes place at Greenmead Historical Park in Livonia June 6-8, featuring Celtic bands, Irish dancing, whiskey tastings and more.  
  • The Detroit Symphony Orchestra hosts its Chandler Park Sounds of Summer concert in Detroit on June 7. The free concert will feature Detroit Symphony musicians, Larry Lee and the Back in the Day Band, the Jauron Perry Quintet and Testimony Sings.  
  • Motor City Pride returns to Hart Plaza June 7-8. It’s Michigan’s largest LGBTQ+ celebration with parades, performances, food trucks and more.  
  • Art on the Grand takes over downtown Farmington June 7-8. The fine arts fair features more than 100 juried artists, handmade goods and live music.  
  • The PeaceFest Arts & Music Festival takes place at L.A. Café in Waterford June 7-8. The festival includes over 100 local artists, live music and more. 
  • The Westside Art Hop happens in Ann Arbor June 7-8 along Mt. Vernon Avenue and the surrounding neighborhood. The event is an art walk and art fair, featuring artists showcasing their work right from home on their porches. 
  • Comedian Josh Johnson brings his “The Flowers Tour” to The Fillmore in Detroit on June 8. Johnson is an Emmy-nominated writer, stand-up comedian, actor and NAACP award-winner.
