Metro Detroit is full of festivals this weekend, including the Grosse Ile IslandFest, Ferndale Pride, the Ann Arbor Water Lantern Festival and Spring VegFest. Plus, there are art fairs in Detroit and downtown Pinckney, a medieval fair at Canterbury Village, and Bark on Biddle dog festival. One Detroit contributor Cecelia Sharpe of 90.9 WRCJ shares what’s coming up this weekend around the region. 

Upcoming Events: 

  • The Grosse Ile IslandFest takes place May 30 – June 1. The festival features live music, carnival rides, family-friendly activities, and local food vendors.  
  • Bark on Biddle takes place May 30 – June 1 along the downtown Wyandotte Riverfront off Oak Street. The festival features dog parades and contests as well as pet-friendly vendors. 
  • Ferndale Pride takes place in downtown Ferndale on May 31. The celebration includes music, vendors and family-friendly events.  
  • The Ann Arbor Water Lantern Festival takes place May 31 at Kensington Metropark in Milford. The festival invites participants to write down their hope or a letter to a loved one and send it out into the water. 
  • The Palmer Park Art Fair runs May 31 – June 1 at Palmer Park in Detroit. Enjoy art from local artists, live music and food vendors. 
  • The Canterbury Village Medieval Faire takes place May 31 – June 1 and June 7-8. The event includes jousting, crafts, music, and other medieval-themed fun. 
  • The 33rd annual Art in the Park takes place in downtown Pinckney May 31 – June 1. The event highlights artists across a variety of media, entertainment, food and community vendors. 
  • Spring VegFest comes to Eastern Market Sheds 5 & 6 on June 1. The festival includes more than 100 plant-based food vendors, live cooking demonstrations, sustainability resources, free samples and a kid zone.
