Metro Detroit is packed with interesting events happening this weekend, including the Sail Detroit festival along the Detroit Riverfront, Detroit’s annual Ribs R&B Music Festival in Hart Plaza and the Milford Memories Summer Festival. Plus, commemorate Detroit’s 1867 World Base Ball Tournament in Greenfield Village by watching America’s pastime played by the rules of 1867.

One Detroit contributor Haley Taylor of 90.9 WRCJ shares what’s happening around the region this weekend on “One Detroit Weekend.”

  • Celebrate the vibrant maritime history of Detroit at the Sail Detroit 2025 festival through August 10 along the Detroit Riverfront featuring tall ship tours and viewing.
  • The winner of the 2025 Cinetopia film festival’s Audience Award for Best U.S. Documentary, “1969: Killers, Freaks, and Radicals” returns to the Michigan Theater in Ann Arbor August 8-9. Director Andrew Templeton will participate in a post-film discussion.
  • Genesee County Parks invites the community to the Fantastical Fairytale Festival taking place in Flint on August 9. Costumes are encouraged.
  • Detroit’s annual Ribs R&B Music Festival returns to Hart Plaza August 8-10 for a summertime celebration of barbecue and music.
  • The Milford Memories Summer Festival takes place downtown Milford August 8 – 10. The event includes a corn hole tournament, rock climbing tower and beer tent.
  • The World Tournament of Historic Base Ball returns to Walnut Grove in Greenfield Village August 9-10, featuring teams playing America’s pastime by the rules of 1867.
  • The Festival of Flight comes to the Oakland County International Airport in Waterford on August 10. The event includes an airshow, historic aircraft and rides.
  • The Motor City Greek Weekend Cookout takes place in Roosevelt Park in front of The Station at Michigan Central on August 10, featuring food trucks, vendors, step show, a community service presentation, and more.
