On the next American Black Journal, Stephen is at the Downtown Boxing Gym in Detroit for a special episode on Muhammad Ali, Detroit’s major impact on the sport of boxing, and combining boxing with academics to empower young people.

We’ll hear from two Detroit world boxing champions, Thomas Hearns and Milton McCrory, along with famed Boxing Manager and Promoter Jackie Kallen, Hall of Fame Boxing Referee Frank Garza, Boxing Judge Katealia Chambers, and Amateur Boxer Deion Plummer.

Plus, Stephen talks with Downtown Boxing Gym Founder Khali Sweeney about how his academic and athletic program provides students with the tools they need to succeed in life.

And, we’ll have a preview of Ken Burns’ PBS documentary, “Muhammad Ali.”
