COVID-19 and inflammation in children: One Detroit talks to a doctor on the front lines

May 22, 2020

While considered rare, multisystem inflammatory syndrome in children (MIS-C) has made a significant appearance in a Detroit hospital.

Last week Children’s Hospital of Michigan was treating 19 children stricken with a severe inflammation connected to the COVID-19 virus or antibodies from that virus that are in the children’s system.

At Children’s Hospital their pediatric patients are all expected to do fine although nationally some have died from from MIS-C.

How and why the inflammation occurs is still unclear.

One Detroit talked to Dr. Amrit Misra at Children’s Hospital this week to get the latest on what’s going on there.
